Sticky K Mix for Kissy Sell Out

Sticky K is bringing back that fun, party sound that Herve and Crookers bestowed upon us without being a ripoff. He has been killing it with remixes lately, and has released an EP on Dubsided records. Check out this forthcoming minimix which you should hear soon if you tune into Kissy regularly. Check Sticky's myspace for a killer upcoming remix for Maluca I assume on Mad Decent.

T T Today Junior

I do not know anything about Hey Today! but on first listen their remix below blew me away, it's one of those tracks that you instantly want to throw on a cd and play on your decks. It has a some seriously sharp and heavy basslines after the clever intro and a much more upbeat and funky synth work on the second drop, it then smashes into a final hook that sounds like Justice's remix of ZZT's Lower State Of Consciousness. It's got all the parts of a generic banger, with a not so generic sound. Download it.

Majorly Late

I have to admit that i am very very late to jump on the bandwagon of Major Lazer and I didn't really give the Switch/Diplo collaboration the headphone time it deserved when their tracks were first released. Their unique production is really unbelievable, i don't know if their style of music will be the future because i don't think anyone has the skill or the amount of sanity that the duo lack to clone it. I heard this song out a few weeks ago and it has been stuck in my head ever since.

On My Mind

Hey All,
Posting should be back to normal from today, i have Internet out of my normal working hours so expect some good things to come very soon.
These tracks have been in constant rotation on anything that will allow my headphones access.

Trumpdisco - LOTR
(320k) (YSI)

I must say that i am a big fan of TV Show/Movie theme songs and remixes, almost as much as i am a fan of my favorite duo from Melbourne Trumpdisco. Don't let the slow start fool you, it is the perfect buildup to what is the driving kick that appears at 1:05. As always the boys have made the track their own with some dirty distortion and i think this should go in every dj's arsenal. (I also must apologize to the boys, i misquoted there track 1971 as 1989, sorry boys!)

DIM & TAI - Lyposuct (320k) (YSI)

I am sure most of you have already heard this track, but now i bring it to you in a highly bloggable and playable bitrate. What can i not say about this track? It is so freakishly simple, it is at a pitch so close to causing brain damage it is dangerous and put simply it is just pure genius. I do not know anything about TAI (does anyone?), but i know DIM is on a winner yet again.

N.A.S.A - Strange Enough (Mr Oizo Remix) (320k) (YSI)

I thought it was highly disrespectful when i read in a media release about N.A.S.A that they had guest appearances on their latest album from non other than Ol Dirty from the Wu Tang Clan. Even if If Ol Dirty was still alive i would doubt he would take out time from smoking crack and fucking bitches to collaborate with two white dudes who wear spacesuits but this Mr Oizo remix is awesome. A perfect 112bpm spin on a freakishly good rhyme.

The Proxy - 8000

To help build my excitement for the upcoming Parklife festival I have been searching for some decent Tiga live sets as i hardly know anything about his style when he plays and Fortunately i was lucky enough to stumble upon his live set at Werchter festival last Friday. I was super impressed to say the least, his technique is beautiful and his talent on the CDJ's really shows by mashing multiple remixes of his own songs together and also using some of my favourite artists such as Boys Noize, Zombie Nation and especially The Proxy in the tracklisting.
There must be some mutual love between them as Proxy has given him the next soviet bomb in the name of 8000 which Tiga dropped as his last song for the set. I have been critical of The Proxy's lack of production variety in my previous posts but after hearing this track i have to take back all i have said. As always the track is obviously a brutal banger at the drop but it also has some nice samples and sounds so unique that i had to go through a few blogs and validate that this was infact and original track.

I hope this kind of unique sound keeps coming from The Proxy because if he keeps evolving like he has shown in this track there will be no one who can take him from the top.

Bleeding heart

UPDATE:
we are not suspended from the hype machine, apparently it is an issue with blogger not hypem.

A fellow blogger put me onto this article on the recent exploitation of the hype machine's popular charts. I have to admit that when i first started researching and downloading songs that it was only through the hype machine that i started reading blogs. I used to love sifting through the shitty justice remixes or the 4 year old Soulwax tracks that were brand new and I guess you could say if the hype machine wasn't around, I would still be typing 'techno remix' into Lime wire or downloading the next Ministry Of Sound compilation from a torrent site. I guess i have the hype machine to thank for opening my eyes to the different artists and genres i wouldn't have ever heard or loved without it. So with that said:

I despise the hype machine popular pages and in my opinion it is everything that is wrong with this music industry. A popularity contest should not decide anything regarding talent, let alone who is the best Producer/Artist/DJ because unfortunately the average person in this idiotic world lacks the knowledge for a valued opinion and normally the most popular people in this world are people you shouldn't look up to at all.
Over the past year i have learnt that the Hype Machine member base is far from a well managed general collective of musical masterminds. It seems that a once reliable source of good music has been invaded by half of teen America, a generation of social ladder climbing, no brained numbskulls waiting with their thumbs out to jump on the next bandwagon and doing anything and everything to look cool while they wait. Reading the popular pages and its blogs is like walking into club 77 3 years ago for fucks sake.

Although i like and found humor from the Hype Machine's 'name and shame tactic' that they applied I think it is quite unfair to have a guilty until proven innocent measure, especially in a scene where image/reputation means everything and this could and probably will ruin some peoples careers. I think the least they could have done is contact the artist or blog that the artist had been posted on for more information or to discuss further.

As far as i know, we have blogged 3 artists on the list

Three Fingers
Mustard Pimp
Burns

Although i have not spoken to any of the 3 people in this list about the truth in their allegations I find it very hard to believe that this is their own doing.
I often speak John and Tristan from Three Fingers and i know for a fact that they do not give a fuck what anyone thinks, i honestly doubt they had the time to go and make 700 hype machine accounts and heart everyone of their tracks and they are not signed so they don't have a record label junior admin doing it for them either. Mustard Pimp and Burns have been posted with great reception all over respected blogs and have rated high in the hype machine for quite a while. I don't see how they would ever need to boost their popularity as they already have a loyal following and respective record deals.
I am not saying that i definitely know that any are innocent, the admins of Hype Machine would not have posted what they did unless they were absolutely sure something was dodgy but i think it may be bigger than just the artists involved. I put it down to publicists, fans/good friends and record labels marketing departments. If i am right this gets me the most irritated because in the end it is the artists that dedicate their own time, money and ability into making the tracks and the previously mentioned can bring everything down with a few stupid actions.

I guess the point is what i am trying to get across is that being popular on the hype machine should not be something to aspire to. If i ever made a track i would prefer 5 positive comments from regular faces on blogs than 1000 hearts on hype machine any day. Atleast you know who likes your productions and hopefully their opinion means something to you. Before you go and say i am a hippocrit, I am not saying The Hype Machine is the devil. It keeps blogs on their toes, It helps showcase up and coming artists and it does do its part for the industry. It's just unfortunate that all the good it can do is almost erased because of its stupid popularity pages.

I wouldn't make you read my ranting without sharing some some tracks that have been blowing my mind recently:

Rico Tubbs - Boom Riddim (Sharkslayer remix) (YSI)

Imogen Heap - Hide And Seek (Enigma Remix) (YSI)

Fuckkk Offf - I'm A Freak
(YSI)

Lykke Li - Little Bit (Death To The Throne Remix) (YSI)

Albin Myers - Times Like These (Edu K's Mucho Fucked Up Remix) (YSI)

Cheers to Deckhead and Squeegie Sounds for some of the tracks, if i have missed any others sorry, its been a hectic week.

Peace,
